While UFL players continue to make their journey to the NFL, some UFL coaches have begun to transition from the league as well. After spending the spring of 2026 with the Birmingham Stallions, Defensive Coordinator Kevin Sherrer will be returning to the SEC this time with LSU in analyst role. Sherrer who has been in the coaching ranks since 1996, will now serve as a valuable asset for Defensive Coordinator Blake Baker.
Sherrer most recently spent 2026 season with the Brimingham Stallions, reuniting with A.J. McCarron in which the two were apart of two national championship team in 2011 and 2012. Before Birmingham, Sherrer spent the 2024 season with Georgia State as their defensive coordinator. It is unknown if Sherrer will return to the UFL in 2027, however many coaches have "double dipped" over the past several years.
Recently, Eric Price offensive coordinator for the Houston Gamblers, had served as an Analyst for the University of Montana in 2025, and will serve as the wide receivers coach in the fall of 2026.
While Sherrer isn't the only UFL employee that will be on the move. The Miami Dolphins have announced that former UFL offensive lineman Zach Banner and Louisville Kings (UFL) safeties coach Kyle Williams as part of the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship program for their training camp. Over the several years, many UFL coaches have participated in internship programs with NFL teams.
Currently the UFL remains in an "offseason period", as the league prepares for the 2027 season.
