UFL News Hub has heard from sources for some time that the UFL was planning on making an announcement about the 2025 season in September. We got a little teaser from an email to DC Defenders season ticket holders confirming what we are hearing.
Schedule footprint announced later this month — The UFL will announce its spring schedule footprint soon. Later this fall, we will share our home and away opponents.
We have been hearing that the third week in September to expect some type of announcement. League officials are still finalizing last minute details.
So what could the "Schedule footprint" announcement include;
TV Broadcast Partnerships:
- FOX: Will host the single Friday night game each week.
- ABC, ESPN, and FS1: Will share the Saturday and Sunday game broadcasts.
- The announcement might include which network will air games on which days
Season Timeframe:
- Start and end dates for the 2025 season.
Playoff Dates:
- General timeframe for when the playoffs will occur.
Venu was intended to be the streaming service, but its launch is currently blocked by a court injunction. So where to watch the games online might be skipped for now.
We could also hear where the championship game could be played. The rumor making the rounds right now is DC. The original UFL plan, when the leagues merged, was to have the Championship game alternate between XFL and USFL city.
St Louis hosted last year, that plan was probably scrapped as the league needs the best and most crowded venue to showcase their big game. Audi field in DC is second best in the league to The Dome in St Louis.
Spring leagues usually keep a low profile at the beginning of the NFL season as all the football juice is taken up by the big league. Expect mid September on, chalk full of exciting UFL announcements including the draft, full UFL schedule and more.
