UFL Announces Player Dispersal Results: The United Football League discloses the outcomes of its player dispersal phase, reshaping teams for 2024.
Team Protection Strategies Revealed: Each XFL and USFL Conference team secured 42 foundational players from 2023.
Next Steps in Player Selection: Unprotected players to enter a pool for the upcoming round of dispersal on January 15; free agency begins January 16.
The United Football League (UFL), recognized as a premier spring football league, has officially announced the results of the first phase of its player dispersal process. This strategic event took place on Friday, January 5, and marks a significant step in the league’s preparations for the upcoming 2024 season.
In this initial phase, every team from both the XFL Conference and the USFL Conference had the opportunity to protect 42 foundational players from their 2023 rosters. This move is critical in maintaining team consistency and leveraging the existing talent for the forthcoming season.
Following the protection phase, each team was then permitted to select up to 20 players from the rosters of other teams within their previous league that are not proceeding to the 2024 season. This selection process is designed to strengthen team rosters by integrating experienced players from within the league, thereby enhancing the overall competitiveness and skill level of the teams.
Players who were not protected or selected in this initial phase are set to be placed in a general pool. This pool will be accessible to all UFL teams for another round of player selection, scheduled to occur on January 15. This round promises to be a crucial moment for teams to further bolster their rosters with talented players from a broader selection base.
Furthermore, the UFL has outlined the continuation of free agency for players who were either not selected in this dispersal process or did not play in the USFL or XFL in 2023. This free agency period is set to commence on January 16, providing an additional avenue for teams to acquire new talent and for players to find opportunities within the league.
For detailed information regarding the specific players chosen by each team in this dispersal process, the UFL has provided a comprehensive list.
This announcement from the UFL highlights the league’s commitment to maintaining a dynamic and competitive environment, ensuring that the 2024 season will be as exciting and engaging as its predecessors.

Mark PerryEditor
Mark Perry, a devoted sports journalist and founder of UFL News Hub, has been a key figure in XFL, USFL and UFL coverage since 2018.
I love that you have merged two great organizations into one UFL!
I’ve been a fan of the USFL and XFL since both their inception.
It’s great football, family affordable and allows players to continue their dreams.
It’s even better now that I have friends children thatvplayvorbplayed in both leagues and two on rosters.
I hope you continue finding talent that just needs an opportunity. Hungry players with a hope to still make it to the NFL is what makes this a great league.
