The UFL ratings are in for week 6. The UFL delivered another thrilling weekend of last-minute upsets, heartbreaking losses, and another spectacular 60-yard kick. Did the audience tune in to catch all the excitement or, did viewers miss out? According to Mike Mitchell, @ByMikeMitchell, the week 6 ratings are great news for the league and UFL fans.

On Saturday afternoon ABC broadcast the Birmingham Stallions vs. the Memphis Showboats game.    956,000 fans tuned in to watch Stallions quarterback Adrian Martinez and the offense trample the home team Showboats 39 to 21.  The 6-0 Stallions set a record by becoming the fastest team in spring football to lock up a playoff berth, as Martinez treated fans to an MVP performance, passing 23/36 for 368 yards, 4 touchdowns, and no interceptions. Martinez, who currently ranks number two in the league for rushing, added another 25 yards on the ground. 

The late afternoon game on Saturday between the Houston Roughnecks and the St. Louis Battlehawks was broadcast on FOX.  829,000 viewers watched as A.J. McCarron and the Battlehawks secured their fifth straight win to defeat the Roughnecks 22-8.

McCarron continues to demonstrate why he is the best quarterback in the league, passing 135/199 for 1306 yards this season with 13 touchdowns and two interceptions. Wide receiver Hakeem Butler, who currently is atop the league standings, had another huge day with 2 touchdowns and six catches for 134 yards.

On Sunday afternoon, 929,000 FOX viewers caught a thrilling down-to-the-wire finish between the Arlington Renegades and the Michigan Panthers.  As the final seconds ticked off the clock, the 0-6 Renegades saw their 27-25 lead over the Panthers evaporate when Jake Bates kicked his 5th field goal of the afternoon. Bates delivered a stunning 42-yard kick that sealed the victory for the Panthers with a score of 28-27 and lifted their season record to 4.2.  

1,220,000 FOX viewers watched the hard-fought defensive battle between the San Antonio Brahmas and the D.C. Defenders. This was the second-largest TV audience of the 2024 season.  In an even more promising demonstration of support for the UFL, these rating numbers reflect a 41% increase from one year ago when the combined network’s average number of viewers was 864,000. 

In a surprising upset, the Defenders pulled out an 18-12 victory over the best defense in the UFL to keep their playoff hopes alive.  Quarterback Jordan Ta’amu passed 14-22 for 179 yards with one touchdown. Wide receiver Kelvin Harmon, who caught the winning touchdown, was the real star of the day with eight catches for 101 yards. The Defenders improved their record to 3-3, one game behind the Brahmas at 4-2.   

Next weekend, the Arlington Renegades will look for their first victory against the Memphis Showboats on Saturday, May 11th.  The game will be televised on ESPN at 1:00 pm EST.

In a game that could provide a preview of this year’s Championship game, the Birmingham Stallions will host the St. Louis Battlehawks on Saturday, May 11th at 4:00 pm EST.  The game will be televised on FOX.    

On Sunday, May 12th at noon EST, the D.C. Defenders host the Michigan Panthers in a game with huge playoff implications for both teams.  That game will be televised on ESPN.

For the final weekend game, on Sunday, May 12th at 3:00 pm EST, the Houston Roughnecks host the San Antonio Brahmas. The game will be televised on ESPN.
