Battlehawks Add WR Steven Mcbride, After Sudden Retirement

With UFL training camp in full swing, the Battlehawks saw their second untimely transaction with the departure of a wide receiver, after QB Michael Pratt decided to not play in the 2026 UFL season. The Battlehawks made a swap at Wide Receiver with the sudden retirement of Lideatrick Griffin, and signing Steven McBride as his replacement.

Griffin was in his first season with the Battlehawks after being drafted during the 2026 UFL draft. Coming out of Mississippi State, Griffin was drafted by the San Antonio Brahmas in the 2024 UFL college draft before opting to sign with the Las Vegas Raiders as a UDFA. Griffin would spend time with the Raiders, Browns, and Packers before having his rights taken by St. Louis.

The Battlehawks replaced Griffin with 2025 UDFA Steven McBride out of Hawaii. McBride was unsigned by NFL teams in 2025, playing with the Massachusetts Pirates in 2025 totaling 14 receptions for 153 yards along with 5 rushes for 34 yards.

The Battlehawks roster currently sits at 62 players during the first days of training camp. St. Louis has yet to sign a 3rd quarterback right now currently working with Ben Wooldridge and Brandon Silvers at the position. The Battlehawks first game of the season is March 28th against the 2025 UFL champion D.C. Defenders.
