Chicago Bears Sign UFL LB Tony Fields II From Columbus Aviators

The Chicago Bears signed middle linebacker Tony Fields II on Monday following his UFL season with the Columbus Aviators. He was named All-UFL following the 2026 season. Monday was the first day NFL teams were able to sign UFL players.

LB Tony Fields II - West Virginia (6’0, 222 lbs)

Tony Fields played in all 10 games for the Columbus Aviators this past season, with 9 starts, and recorded 39 solo tackles, 37 assisted tackles, 5 tackles for loss, and a sack. His 77 total tackles were the 2nd most in the UFL this past season.

For how I track stops, Fields was among the most productive among all defensive players with 35 total stops (8 solo run stops, 17 assisted run stops, 3 solo pass stops, and 7 assisted pass stops). In coverage, he faced 25 targets which resulted in 20 receptions for 254 yards and a touchdown (by my tracking, not counting screen plays).

Fields was a 5th-round draft pick out of West Virginia in 2021 by the Cleveland Browns. He played in 45 games with 10 starts for Cleveland from the 2021 through 2024 seasons, with 1 game in 2024 which was shortened by injury. He recorded 48 solo tackles, 40 assisted tackles, and an interception with the Browns.

Fields was waived by Cleveland in October of 2024 and quickly picked up by the LA Rams, where he spent the 2025 preseason before being released in final cuts.
