When it rains, it certainly pours down hard for the Dallas Renegades as the rough times just got a lot rougher.
According to the UFL Communications Department's X page, the Renegades have moved their starting wide receiver, Deontay Burnett, to the reserve/injured list. This means that Burnett will have to miss the next five games, which pretty much means his 2026 season is over with the Renegades.
Burnett has been on the Renegades for several years now as one of their top receivers year in and year out. In six games this season, he caught 14 passes for 152 yards and one touchdown.
Renegades lose one of their top receivers for the rest of the 2026 season
For a team that has done a really good job of staying relatively healthy, this is a crushing blow for the Renegades' offense. Burnett has been a solid slot receiver for the offense, with reliable hands when the offense needs him to make a catch.
The good news is that the Renegades are deep at wide receiver and still have plenty of weapons to use in the offense. Dallas will have to lean more on guys like Tyler Vaughns, Greg Ward, Drake Stoops, and Emmanuel Butler to step up to the plate at receiver.
What may not be as good news is the gauntlet of a schedule the Renegades have the rest of the season. They have a Week 8 showdown against the Orlando Storm from Fort Hood, a Week 9 game against the red-hot Louisville Kings, and a Week 10 matchup against arguably the best team in the league, the St. Louis Battlehawks.
Sitting at 3-4 on the season and on the outside of the playoffs as of the end of Week 7, the Renegades cannot afford to lose anyone else the rest of the season. All 50 players on the roster will be needed if Dallas wants any hope of turning this season around and getting into the postseason for the first time since winning the XFL league title in 2023.
