With both the UFL and NFL in their offseason lulls, it's the perfect time to dive into some offseason content. As the UFL awaits the next wave of NFL signings for the 2026 player acquisition cycle, we're taking a look back at how each NFL team has utilized spring football as a developmental pipeline during the modern era of spring football since 2022. We continue the series with the Philadelphia Eagles, highlighting every spring league player the organization has signed over the past four years.
2022 Cycle:
With the return of the USFL, the Eagles signed two skill position players from the Michigan Panthers. Unfortunately for WR Lance Lenoir and RB DeAndre Torrey (Michigan Panthers), both players would not make the active roster or practice squad and would join the XFL in 2023.
2023 Cycle:
The 2023 signing class saw Philadelphia sign four players, three from the USFL, and one from the XFL. Olive Sagapolu (Pittsburgh Maulers) and Deon Cain (Birmingham Stallions) both were released at the conclusion of training camp. WR Charleston Rambo (Orlando Guardians) would be placed on injured reserve, only to be waived in September of 2023.
In 2024, Philadelphia would sign WR Austin Watkins (Birmingham Stallions) to a futures deal only to release him at the conclusion of training camp.
2024 Cycle:
The Eagles did not sign any players from the 2024 UFL class.
2025 Cycle:
The Eagles signed their first UFL player (a year later) in DL Jacob Sykes (San Antonio Brahmas), who had two separate stints on their practice squad. Unfortunately, he was unable to stick around for the long haul. Sykes would return to the UFL, however was released by the Orlando Storm.
Despite being the benefactor of one of the more accomplished spring football players in WR Greg Ward (AAF), the Eagles haven’t seen high returns from the most recent classes of players since 2022. During the 2026 signing the Eagles have signed DB Shaun Wade (Dallas Renegades), who will look to make an impact in an underachieving secondary from 2025. WR Erik Ezukanma (D,C. Defenders) will also look to make an impact as the 2nd UFL player on the Eagles roster.
Expect the next influx of UFL talent to hit NFL rosters as training camps prepare to kickoff later this July.
