With the 2026 UFL offseason on pause from a player transaction perspective several teams have seen a bit of movement as the team heads into year four of the United Football League. While teams have seen players earn NFL contracts, retire, or even join CFL teams, UFL rosters remain unchanged despite the league announcing four new franchises set to kickoff in the next 18 months.
While the league is poised for another "face lift" one franchise is set to begin its sixth season of play in the St. Louis Battlehawks who are poised to look a bit different itself. The team has seen several players earn NFL contracts, while some have hinted at retirement themselves. With Offensive Coordinator A.J. Smith now on staff with the Colorado Buffaloes, and two of his quarterbacks now rostered by CFL teams, the team currently only has Brandon Silvers as their only quarterback rostered for 2027.
With that being said below are several options St. Louis could look at for the 2027 at the Quarterback position, while teams continue work through the offseason.

Bailey Zappe Western Kentucky, 4 NFL Teams 2022-2026
Zach Zebrowski
A showcase attendee Zebrowski spent 2025 with the Edmonton Elks of the CFL, before his release prior to the 2026 season. Zebrowski is a two-time Harlon Hill winner (D2 Heisman) leading Central Missouri to a conference championship and two playoff appearances. Zebrowski threw for over 100 touchdowns in two seasons, and is also the son of Kansas Jayhawks offensive coordinator Jim Zebrowski.
Jacob Clark
Clark had a recent stint with the Las Vegas Raiders however, received little to no playing time this past preseason. Clark has ties to the state assisting the FCS to FBS transition for Missouri State throwing for almost 8,000 yards and 64 touchdowns in Springfield. A youthful prospect with upside Clark has the balance of professional potential and local ties that could assist the team on and off the field.
Brett Gabbert
While several reports indicate Gabbert is "done" with football after a 2025 stint with the Miami Dolphins, as far as keeping local ties strong, having one of the city's best prospects ever wouldn't be a bad PR move would it. While Gabbert didn't show enough with the Dolphins to "stick" around, a local player whose lineage runs deep in the state (and the city) might be a nice touch for the 2026 season.
Adrian Martinez
I personally feel that Martinez will be a late season addition for an NFL team, however with Martinez needing another year on an NFL roster to be considered a "vested" veteran, another elite level performance in the UFL may be exactly what he needs. Martinez has spent the past two seasons with the 49ers and Jets even making his NFL debut last season. He's bounced on and off their active rosters due to uncertainty at the QB position, however has not earned any workouts since being released by San Francisco. With Martinez still being "in shape" and game ready, a quick pit stop with St. Louis could be exactly what is needed for him to find stability back in the NFL.
Skylar Thompson
While Thompson is currently rostered with the Baltimore Ravens, he has spent the last two years on injured reserve with the Ravens and the Steelers. With Thompson going into the sixth year of his career having not played since 2024 in an NFL regular season game, he may find himself lacking suitors during the 2026 offseason. Thompson could take a chance with his home-state team, (he's from Independence, Missouri) in the hopes of finding himself back into relevance with NFL teams.
