Gamblers "rest" several players ahead of week 10 matchup against the Stallions, Sumlin confirms NFL workouts inbound

With the Stallions and Gamblers set to kickoff at 3pm (ET), several key pieces of the team are inactive active for the teams final matchup of the season. Per James Larsen of PFN, who spoke with Sumlin during pregame warmups, stated that Major Burns, Marcus Yarns, and Jalen Moreno-Cropper all have NFL workouts lined up upon the completion of week 10.

All three Gamblers have been high impact players for Houston, despite the team being out of playoff contention. Notably, the team also listed Wide Receiver Justin Hall as an inactive player about an hour and a half before kickoff one of the leagues more dynamic possession receivers. All three of the confirmed players with NFL tryouts appeared in training camps last year with NFL teams with Moreno-Cropper spending time on the Cowboys practice squad and appearing in three NFL games.

It's also worth noting for a player like Moreno-Cropper that if he is able to return to the NFL, he could push to becoming a "vested" player needing two more years (3 games a season) to earn an NFL pension. At this time its unknown which NFL teams the Gamblers are working out for going into next week.

Last year the UFL saw 63 players earn contracts, with 75 the year before. In Sumlin's first year of coaching in spring football his "original" Houston Gamblers in 2022 sent seven players to the NFL with several appearing in regular season games over the past several years. Last season five Houston players earned NFL contracts with Damon Arnette headlining that class.
