Houston Gamblers Quarterback Nolan Henderson confirms retirement after four professional seasons

While the NFL and UFL are currently in a quiet period, several roster moves have taken place since the league saw 23 players earn NFL contracts upon the completion of its third season. Recently, one former main stay of the league took to social media on a local podcast to talk about his future in professional football.

Nolan Henderson a 3-year UFL player, and 4-year pro is officially retiring from football, after spending this past season with the Houston Gamblers. The 28-year-old has become the 1st official Gambler to retire this off-season, with Houston seeing plenty of change so far, around the team due to the UFL to NFL signing cycle.

Henderson retires after beginning his career with the Baltimore Ravens, followed by 2024 to 2026 with the Houston Roughnecks/Gamblers. Henderson would appear in 15 games (7 starts), throwing for 1,156 yds, 4 TDs to 3 INTs. Henderson also added 330 rushing yards and 2 TDs. The former Delaware Blue Hen earned a 1-6 record, while also earning UFL player of the week honors in week two of the 2026 season for his upset win against the Birmingham Stallions.

Henderson is set to begin working with high level college quarterbacks, which will take place from the January to March timeframe. Henderson will now assist the next wave of possible NFL (or even UFL) quarterbacks as they look to take the next step in their training.

The Gamblers now continue into the offseason, with their second quarterback leaving the team, with Hunter Dekkers signing with the New Orleans Saints after the 2026 UFL season. The Gamblers have seen a total of seven players earn NFL contracts so far, this signing cycle, with the roster currently sitting at 42.
