Houston Gamblers Safety Major Burns signs with Miami Dolphins

As the ink on the first UFL to NFL selection begins to dry, the second UFL to NFL signing has been announced. All-UFL Safety Major Burns, is the latest success story as the 1st year spring football player is joining the Miami Dolphins per PFN's James Larsen, and UFL Analyst. Burns recently worked out for the Dolphins upon Houston's elimination from the playoffs, which drew some attention due to Gamblers Head Coach Kevin Sumlin benching Burns in week 10, so he wouldn't suffer an injury.

Burns joined the Gamblers before the season on March 10th, making the team despite a late start. He spent part of 2025 with the Chicago Bears however; an injury forced him to be waived due with a settlement ending his 2025 season. Burns would earn All-UFL honors with Houston recording 47 tackles, 4 PBUs, and 4 INTs in his first season in the UFL.

With Burns' output coupled by his age, the former LSU safety should be able to make plenty of noise in training camp in his hopes of returning to the NFL. Burns is now the 2nd UFL player to earn a contract, and with him earning a contract this far in advance, will have plenty of opportunity to get indoctrinated in the Dolphins system. So far, the Gamblers have seen six of their players earn interest from NFL teams.
