Houston Gamblers see Wide Receiver Kaden Davis and Defensive Back Ameer Speed earns NFL contracts

As the UFL begins its third day of the offseason, the league has already seen 12 players earn NFL opportunities which is about a week ahead compared to the last two seasons in the UFL to NFL signing cycle. Yesterday, the Houston Gamblers saw two more players earn NFL contracts, after All-UFL Safety Major Burns signed with the Miami Dolphins.

Now going into day three, the Gamblers will see Wide Receiver Kaden Davis join the Chicago Bears, with Defensive Back Ameer Speed joining the Dallas Cowboys (per James Larsen of PFN). Davis who joined Houston mid-season has ties to the Michigan Panthers of the USFL in 2023, joining the team during their 2023 playoff push which allowed him to sign with the Arizona Cardinals. Davis would spend about three seasons in the NFL bouncing between the Active Roster and Practice Squad, before joining the Cleveland Browns and not being offered a futures deal with the team. In 5 games, Davis recorded 32 receiving yards along with 275 kick return yards, and reunites with Ben Johnson who was his offensive coordinator in Detroit during the 2024 season. He'll most likely battle it out with Maurice Alexander who has spent the last four seasons with Johnson, since coming to the NFL from the USFL's Philadelphia Stars.

Reports also indicate that Defensive Back Ameer Speed is also joining an NFL squad. Speed is reported to be joining the Dallas Cowboys, after appearing in five games for the Gamblers this past season. Speed was a sixth-round pick in 2023 to the New England Patriots, and joined the Gamblers in late April. He's spent time with five NFL teams prior to Dallas, and most recently was with the Houston Texans in 2025 before he was not offered a futures deal this past NFL offseason.

The Gamblers have now seen three players join NFL squads, with eleven of their players earning workouts so far. The UFL collectively has seen 12 players earn NFL contract through two full days of its offseason. Last season the league saw 64 players earn contracts through the UFL to NFL signing cycle, with 75 the year before.
