Despite having one of the most robust defensive units in the UFL during the 2024 UFL season, the Brahmas are continuing to pursue players who will improve their talent on the defensive side of the ball. During the UFL College Draft, six out of ten draft picks selected by the Brahmas were defensive players who could significantly improve the playmaking ability of their defense in 2025. Following that trend, the Brahmas have signed cornerback Tyler Boatwright, according to a press release from the UFL.

After playing six seasons at Central Connecticut State University, Tyler Boatwright has pursued an opportunity to make an impact in the NFL. Prior to the 2024 NFL Draft, Boatwright was projected as a cornerback with the potential to be a draftable player. Since going undrafted, Boatwright has had several opportunities to work with the New York Jets mini-camp and workouts with the New York Giants.

Boatwright is a 6’1″, 170-pound native of Hillsborough, New Jersey, and he played college football at Central Connecticut State University from 2018 until 2024. While playing for the Blue Devils, Boatwright recorded 71 tackles, two tackles for loss, forced one fumble, recovered one, intercepted two passes, deflected 22 passes, and blocked two kicks. While watching Boatwright’s highlights, it is evident that he has the athleticism and instincts to be a playmaker.

For the Brahmas, signing Boatwright shows that head coach Wade Phillips and GM Marc Lillibridge have the ability to bring high-quality but overlooked players to their roster. San Antonio’s defensive backfield was a strength for the Brahmas during the 2024 season, but injuries were plentiful, and adding more depth in the defensive backfield is a significant need for the Brahmas. Boatwright might still get an NFL opportunity, but he immediately adds excellent strength to the Brahmas defense.
