UFL announces first two free agent signings post showcases

While the UFL has been pretty quiet from a player personnel standpoint, the league has made an announcement regarding two players who will joining teams after a successful showcase. Per the UFL's press release the league announced that Cliff Harris award winner John Sullivan will be joining the Battlehawks, and Wide Receiver Cahsid Raymond from Mansfield University will be joining the Kevin Sumlin led Dallas Renegades.

Sullivan played his college football at Division III North Central College in Illinois, where he was teammates with Dallas Renegades (or now UFL Colorado) QB Luke Lehnen. In four seasons Sullivan appeared in 39 games including multiple national championships, totaling 154 tackles, 39.5 TFLs, and 14 sacks. During his senior season Sullivan garnered multiple All-American and All-Conference honors, enroute to winning the Cliff Harris award which is given to college football's best "small school" defensive player. He'll join a Battlehawks defensive line room that is led by Travis Feeney, Pita Taumoepenu and 2026 All-UFL selection Carlos Davis.

Also earning an opportunity with the UFL is Cahsid Raymond. Raymond's path to the UFL was extremely impressive due to him coming from Sprint football at Mansfield University. While maintaining strict weight requirements, Raymond was a "do-it-all" asset playing quarterback and wide receiver while also handling punting duties at times. Raymond earned CSFL Offensive Player of the Year, along with multiple All-Conference honors, Player of the week honors, and team awards. Raymond threw for over 3700 yards, 31 TDs, while rushing for over 2700 yards, and 30 TDs. He also added 386 receiving yards while contributing another 169 yards from special teams. In addition, to his accomplishments on the football field, Raymond was also an accomplished track and field athlete at the Division-II level. He'll join a wide receiver room that features Jontre Kirklin, Justin Hall, and Javonta Payton from the 2026 Houston Gamblers.

Sullivan and Raymond will now join their respective teams in the hopes of serving as ambassadors for small school prospects. With both players being showcase alumni, the league continues to serve as a league of opportunity for those who have been overlooked. The 2027 UFL season is scheduled to begin March 27th, with the Louisville Kings kicking off the season at home.
