The Texas Draft have announced Jonathan Bane as the first head coach in franchise history as the expansion franchise prepares for its inaugural season in the Indoor Football League.
Bane joins the Draft after serving as Head Coach of the San Antonio Gunslingers in 2026, leading the team to a 5-11 record. In 2025, he served as the Gunslingers' quarterback while also serving as Special Teams Coordinator.
Bane's journey through indoor football has been defined by both success and remarkable perseverance. In 2023, Bane suffered a severe neck injury that required spinal surgery and months of rehabilitation. After working his way back, he resumed his playing career in 2024. Later that season, Bane suffered a second devastating spinal cord injury that initially left him unable to walk and ultimately ended his playing career. He endured an extensive hospitalization and another lengthy rehabilitation, eventually regaining full function in his extremities.
Now, Bane begins the next chapter of his football career on the sideline. Known for his knowledge of the indoor game and competitive approach, he will have the opportunity to build the Texas Draft from the ground up as the first head coach in franchise history.
