What to Watch for: St. Louis Battlehawks

The Battlehawks look to see if their consistency on Offense was a flash in the pan, or if the team is trending in a positive direction with Harrison Frost at the helm. This past week, Frost looked more comfortable in the offensive scheme, with plenty of timing throws to allow him to settle in against the then 4-0 Storm. The Battlehawks also involved other offensive skill players in the game plan like Steve McBride. For them to be successful look for them to remain on time, on target, while involving their running backs Jarveon Howard and Kevon Latulas in the passing attack.

Defensively, the team has seen a bit of a resurgence from Carlos Davis, and Damone Harris who have been the most effective pass rushers leading the team in sacks. While Jordan Mosely and Sean Fresch have been elite level players in the UFL this season, the unit continues to lean on the front-seven which has forced 12 sacks this year.

What to Watch for: Louisville Kings

Is Chandler Rogers a viable option at Quarterback for this team will be the question going into the Derby Classic. Rogers was the benefactor of a strong defensive performance that scored twice, while forcing four interceptions against the Dallas Renegades. The Kings defense allowed Rogers to simplify the gameplan, while running back Ian Wheeler was able to set a UFL record of 4 rushing touchdowns in a single game. The Kings are riding the hot hand of Rogers (and company) and have not been afraid to shake things up to do so.

Defensively, Cam Dantzler, Cam Gill, and Nick Kubitz are the leading forces behind their recent success. The Kings exploded for a four-turnover day, that would end up being the difference in a dominating win over Dallas. While Gill, was quiet in week five, look for him this week to be a key player against Battlehawks offensive tackles that have struggled throughout the year.

Battlehawks-Kings Prediction

I'm almost to the point of trusting the Battlehawks for a victory this week however, I need one more week of convincing. The team lacks consistency and is extremely boom or bust when it comes to scoring points, relying heavily on chunk plays. Between turning the ball over multiple times last week, and allowing three sacks, while there have been improvements St. Louis still has a bit to go if they want to truly compete for a win this week.

While the Kings may be trending in the right direction, I also caution what this team looks like when Chandler Rogers is forced to shoulder the load. Rogers was a huge benefactor from his running game, and defense which could very well be the case against St. Louis this week.

For me this week is a toss, and ultimately, I have to go with my gut. While I think it won't be a pretty or convincing victory at all, I think St. Louis wins this one 33-29 in a game that's extremely similar to their victory against the Stallions in week 3.

Battlehawks 33, Kings 29
