Dallas Renegades WR Denzel Mims Becomes Second Player on Team to Sign NFL Contract

It turns out Dallas Renegades wide receiver Denzel Mims won't have to go too far in his return to the NFL.

ESPN Cowboys reporter Todd Archer reported the Cowboys have signed Mims along with Houston Gamblers cornerback Ameer Speed and Columbus Aviators offensive lineman Chris Glaser. Mims becomes the second Renegades player to sign with an NFL team with cornerback Shaun Wade signing with the Philadelphia Eagles.

In five games with the Renegades, Mims caught six passes for 55 yards. Mims was a former second-round pick of the New York Jets in 2020 as he has 42 receptions for 676 yards in 30 career games.

Mims did not get many looks in the Renegades' stacked wide receiver room that including Tyler Vaughns, Deontay Burnett, Emmanuel Butler, Greg Ward, and Drake Stoops. The resume of NFL teams that Mims had certainly helped in getting him on the Cowboys roster as well as having played in the area this past season.

As for the chances of Mims making the roster, it will be an uphill battle with so many talented receivers in Dallas with George Pickens, CeeDee Lamb, and former spring football star KaVontae Turpin. At the same time, spring football players have done well with the Cowboys over the years with Turpin and former Birmingham Stallions kicker Brandon Aubrey as great examples.

The Renegades are now down two players from the 2026 roster, which is good news, but more players should be off the board soon enough. Linebacker Curtis Jacobs had a workout with the Cowboys and running back Dae Dae Hunter worked out with the Denver Broncos.

There will be plenty of intrigue over the next few days on who else will get workouts and contracts, but Renegades fans hope that number will continue to go up.
