As the Battlehawks sit at the midway point of the 2026 UFL season, the team was dealt with another injury that was the team pivoting with five games remaining in the season. After losing Tucker McCann prior to their matchup against the Orlando Storm, the team learn that the former Missouri Kicker will miss the remainder of the season.
Per his media call, Head Coach Ricky Proehl announced that the team is signing veteran Ramiz Ahmed to replace McCann moving forward for the rest of the year.
Ahmed returns to the UFL after his most recent stint in 2024 with the Birmingham Stallions. The 2019 UDFA out of Nevada has spent time with the Bears, Pittsburgh Maulers (USFL 2022), Green Bay Packers, Stallions, and Washington Commanders during the training camp of 2024.
In his spring football career Ahmed has appeared in 16 games going 24 of 35 with a long of 61, including 7 of 10 on extra points. He's also appeared in 1 game with the Packers in 2022, serving as their kickoff specialist due to a sore back from Mason Crosby. He'll replace McCann who went 10 of 11 on field goals with a long of 58, along with 6 of 7 on extra points.
Last week the Battlehawks turned to punter Ryan Sanborn who despite missing two extra points (1 of 3) went 2 of 2 on his field goal attempts.
The Battlehawks open week six with the Louisville Kings in Louisville this Thursday.
