Consistency Carries the Orlando Storm to the Top of the UFL

Coming into Week 8 of the 2026 UFL season, the Orlando Storm (6-2), DC Defenders (5-3), and the Saint Louis Battlehawks (5-3) were part of a logjam at the top of the standings. However, the Orlando Storm broke through with a win over the Dallas Renegades, while the Defenders and Battlehawks both suffered surprising losses. That combination of events has led the Orlando Storm to break free of the pack, rise to the top of the UFL standings, clinch a playoff spot, and now be one win away from earning a home playoff game.

The Orlando Storm's 31-24 victory over the Dallas Renegades was an outstanding demonstration of how the Storm has found success under the leadership of head coach Anthony Becht. Consistency is the main ingredient in the Storm's recipe for success, allowing the Orlando offense to manage games week after week. In addition, the Storm's defense has done a great job of keeping the game in front of them and capitalizing on turnover opportunities when opposing offenses make mistakes.

Orlando Storm Clinch a Playoff Berth

The Orlando Storm's consistent offense, athletic defense, and strong special teams led them through the first 8 weeks of the UFL season. Despite challenges, the team stayed committed to a balanced offense focused on the run and play-action. This week, quarterback Jack Plummer made key plays with both his arm and legs, helping the Storm hand the Renegades their fifth straight loss of 2026.

Storm QB Jack Plummer Shows Dual-Threat Capability

A highlight of the Storm's Week 8 game was Jack Plummer's 71-yard rushing touchdown, joined by a 1-yard score on a quarterback sneak. That long run gave Orlando its first lead over the Renegades, and they maintained control from there. Plummer's impact as a runner can open up passing opportunities, forcing defenses to adjust.

Orlando's Weapons on Offense Step Up

Alongside Plummer's performance, the Storm benefited from the resurgence of wide receiver Chris Rowland and running back Jashaun Corbin. Rowland became Plummer's go-to target, catching 9 passes for 91 yards. Corbin added a short touchdown run, helping Orlando clinch a big win over Dallas.

Storm Overcomes a Slow Start with a Strong Finish

A slow start plagued the Storm earlier this season, and in Week 8, they again missed two field goals and fell behind by 10 points. Still, they stuck to their plan, scored 21 points in the second half, and stayed on course as the Renegades traded touchdowns, securing the win against Dallas. It will be critical for the Storm to continue to finish games well as they attempt to make a run for Anthony Becht's first UFL championship this season.
