Former Michigan Panthers Kicker B.T. Potter earns contract with Tampa Bay Buccaneers

While it wasn't as quick as many fans would have expected, the 2025 Michigan Panthers special teams battery has now officially all signed NFL contracts. As NFL teams prepare for mini-camp, former Michigan Panthers kicker B.T. Potter has signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after spending the 2026 spring season out of football.

Potter, who came out of Clemson, was a UDFA with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2023, being released at the conclusion of training camp. He'd replace Jake Bates in 2025, beating out Austin Jones and Chris Blewitt appearing in all 10 games (along with 2 playoff games) for Michigan in 2025. Potter would convert 11 of 16 field goals with a long of 56, including a game winner against the San Antonio Brahmas.

Potter becomes the 64th player from the 2025 UFL to NFL class to earn an NFL opportunity. His battery mates Seth Vernon, and Long Snapper Peter Bowden both earned contracts with Bowden spending time on the Chargers practice squad. Potter will now compete with Chase McLaughin who was 28 of 32 last season in his 3rd season in Tampa Bay.
