Orlando Coach Declares Jack Plummer "League MVP" as Storm Eyes Historic Playoff Push

Orlando Storm head coach Anthony Becht didn't mince words when asked about his quarterback's candidacy for league honors. "There's no question in my mind. He's the MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, all that stuff," Becht declared during his weekly press conference.

The bold proclamation comes as the Storm (7-2) prepare for their Week 10 matchup against the DC Defenders, riding a three-game winning streak into what could be the final tune-up before their inaugural playoff appearance.

Building Something Special from Scratch

What makes Orlando's success even more remarkable is that this team was built entirely from the ground up. As one of three new franchises joining the UFL for 2026, the Storm had to establish both an identity and a winning culture in just 30 days of training camp.

"I think it's just a tremendous amount of selflessness in our locker room. We have come together and built a unique culture for 30 days of training camp and now heading into the 10-week part of the season," Becht explained. "We haven't had any issues with our players throughout the year, and they need to be commended for that."

That selfless approach has translated into one of the league's most balanced attacks. Four Storm receivers are averaging over 10 yards per catch, a testament to both Plummer's decision-making and the team's commitment to spreading the wealth.

The Plummer Factor

Becht's praise for his signal-caller went well beyond typical coach speak. The veteran coach, now in his fourth UFL season, called Plummer "the best quarterback I've ever had around" in terms of owning every aspect of the position.

"It starts with the call, the call to the huddle, the pre-snap process, orchestrating and getting us into whether it's two plays or into the right protection," Becht said. "He's elite with that stuff. If the play comes in and a word's off, he immediately picks it up and changes it and gets it right."

But Becht also expects this to be a one-and-done situation with his star quarterback. "I would assume he's one and done for us," he admitted when asked about potential NFL interest. "So we're trying to milk every second, every game, every play out of him we can."

Battle-Tested Through Close Games

The Storm have won multiple games by slim margins this season, including an overtime thriller and several comeback victories. Rather than viewing those narrow wins as cause for concern, Becht sees them as valuable preparation for the playoffs.

"To win by 2 or 3 touchdowns, like, what do you really get out of that? When you can win 1, 2, 3-point games, down, come back, like, I just feel like you're a little bit more battle-tested, a little bit more ready for those moments when they come up in critical times," the coach explained.

That resilience will be tested immediately, as Orlando faces the possibility of playing DC three times in a row. The teams have already met twice this season, and could potentially face off again in the first round of playoffs if the seeding breaks that way.

Looking Ahead to Playoff Push

Despite having already clinched a playoff berth, Becht made it clear his team won't be coasting into the postseason. The coach emphasized keeping "the foot on the pedal" while managing a relatively small roster through the final weeks.

The Storm have built something special in their inaugural season, combining veteran leadership with hungry young talent. With home crowds growing each week at Inter&Co Stadium, Orlando has given its fans plenty to cheer about in year one.

Whether Plummer can deliver the league's individual honors remains to be seen, but his coach's confidence in both his quarterback and his team's playoff chances couldn't be clearer as they prepare for what could be a historic postseason run.
