At the midway point of the UFL season several quarterback changes are beginning to take shape while the leagues signal callers begin to cement their teams as playoff contenders. This past week saw nine quarterbacks take snaps, not including a wide receiver in Greg Ward who showed fans that he still "has it".
Bonus: Greg Ward 6-7 74 yds 1 TD 2 rush 9 yds
Ward is apparently the Renegades QB2, throwing his hand in our QB Rankings. Ward a former quarterback at the University of Houston tossed his first touchdown in the UFL, making fans reminisce about his time in college almost 10 years ago.
9. Jalen Morton Columbus Aviators
1-1 -1 yds 0 TD 0 INT 0 rush 0 yds 0 TD
Week Five Ranking: #12
Morton continues to make his cameo as a spot/change of pace QB. Morton is in an awkward spot as the team remains to be competitive however, is slowly creeping out of the playoff race. For Morton he'll be hoping he can put enough on tape, that'll warrant an extended look in 2027 for his career extending.
8. Austin Reed Dallas Renegades
14-28 195 yds 1 TD 4 INT 2 rush 0 yds
Week Five Ranking: #3
Look he's been great all year, but in week five he put together a "Nathan Peterman" Esque performance. Reed and the Renegades will be back, but there has been some regression. He should be able to bounce back however, a bit of an overhaul is needed if he wants to continue his career in the NFL.
7. Jack Plummer Orlando Storm
24-44 143 yds 1 TD 0 INT 2 rush 32 yds
Week Five Ranking: #2
Plummer has been a nice surprise in the UFL, however his fall in my ranking is less about his play and more about the majority of his production came within the last 20 minutes of the game. Plummer is better than the product he put out this week however, the Storm aren't built to be able to come back from 20 plus points in the half.
6. Jalan McClendon Columbus Aviators
15-22 160yds 0 TD 0 INT 4 rush 22yds 1 TD
Week Five Ranking: #4
I just need more. We are now fully vested in the Jalan McClendon cycle and at this point he's reaching his peak. He'll make some nice plays here and there, but the dynamic ability is slowly creeping away. McClendon is a part of the old guard at this point and while I believe he warrants a contract as QB2 in the 2027 UFL he may be on playing for another contract rather than an opportunity to lead the Columbus Aviators to a championship/playoff berth.
5. Harrison Frost St. Louis Battlehawks
20/31 185 1 TD 2 INT 6 rush 21 yds 1 TD
Week Five Ranking: #10
I'm not sold on Frost right now as I lobby for the safety of Perez, however his ability to "sling it" is something to watch. Frost continues to keep slinging despite interceptions and inconsistent offensive line play. There is something to like here but going forward he'll have to find some stability if he wants to lead the team moving forward.
4. Chandler Rogers Louisville Kings
13-18 150yds 0 TD 0 INT 3 rush 22yds 0 TD
Week Five Ranking: #13
We saw a Nolan Henderson-lite performance from Rogers which isn't a bad ceiling in his first start. Rogers shows a range of talent showing the tools he'll be able to be a solid QB in the UFL for the immediate future. Rogers has a ceiling of DTR with a floor of Jalan McClendon which gives fans in Kentucky plenty to be excited about.
3. Nolan Henderson Houston Gamblers
13/25 146yds 0 TD 0 INT 6 rush 37 yds 1 TD
Week Five Ranking: #9
The Nolan Henderson paradox continues, with one step forward, and one step back. In week five it was what I'd consider a "half step", with him being the "cleanest" of the 3-6 rankings. Henderson managed the game well enough and was able to put together a valiant effort leading to another Gamblers win. It's worth noting that the Gamblers week five win was Kevin Sumlin's 100th.
2. Dorian Thompson-Robinson Birmingham Stallions
28/43 313yds 2 TD 2 INT 4 rush 43 yds 1 TD
Week Five Ranking: N/A
In his first extended action of the 2026 UFL season, DTR delivered despite a loss to the D.C. Defenders. The former 5th round pick was dynamic, and explosive giving Birmingham a chance no matter what the score was. While Birmingham has plenty of issues in their organization, the team has something in DTR moving forward.
1. Jordan Ta’amu D.C. Defenders
15/22 275yds 4 TD 0 INT 7 rush 33 yds 0 TD
Week Five Ranking: #1
Ta'amu is at midseason form that we've been so accustomed to seeing over the past several years. The Defenders are dominating on all facets of football, allowing them to continue to dominate as the season moves forward to its final stretch. Ta'amu is coming closer to several milestones at the former Ole Miss QB is approaching 10,000 career passing yards, and 83 passing touchdowns which would surpass Jim Kelly's USFL record for most touchdowns in American spring football ever.
